Long Islanders now have another option for a nonstop flight to Florida.
Breeze Airways is adding Tampa to its growing list of destinations from MacArthur Airport, with service beginning Jan. 6.
The twice-weekly flights will operate every Wednesday and Saturday, with introductory one-way fares starting at $129.
The new route makes Tampa Breeze’s 10th nonstop destination from Ronkonkoma, continuing the airline’s expansion of direct flights to Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
Breeze joins Southwest, Frontier and Jet Blue in offering non stop flights to the Gulf Coast.
Breeze Airways first began service from Long Island in February 2022, taking off with nonstop flights to Charleston and Norfolk.
Founded by airline entrepreneur David Neeleman, Breeze Airways launched operations in 2021 with a focus on connecting underserved cities with nonstop flights. The airline has since expanded its network across the United States, often targeting routes that allow travelers to avoid larger, more congested airports.
MacArthur Airport has undergone over $100 million in upgrades since 2016, including runway and taxiway rehabilitations, a new ground transportation center, and ongoing mechanical and engineering improvements.
