Breeze Airways launches $89 flights from MacArthur Airport to Fort Myers

Breeze Airways will soon fly directly to Fort Myers, Florida, from Long Island’s MacArthur Airport, the Town of Islip announced on Tuesday.

The new service starts Oct. 2 and will operate twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with fares starting at $89, town officials said.

The added Florida service comes on the heels of JetBlue’s announcement earlier this month that it would begin service to three Florida destinations from MacArthur Airport.

“Our customers at MacArthur Airport have made it clear that they desire consistent, year-round flights for convenient travel between Long Island and Fort Myers,” Town of Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter said. “The Town Board and I have been actively working with our airline partners to meet the strong demand for Fort Myers service. We’re thrilled that Breeze Airways has stepped in to offer this beloved route from easy ISP.”

To celebrate the new launch, Breeze Airways is offering special introductory fares starting at $89, available for a limited time at flybreeze.com.

Additionally, Long Islanders can fly non-stop from Islip to Charleston, Norfolk, Richmond, Vero Beach, Raleigh Durham, and Portland, Maine, with the added convenience of “BreezeThru” service to Jacksonville and New Orleans, requiring no plane change, officials noted. The air carrier began commercial flights in 2021, and now flies to over 150 destinations across the United States.

Carpenter was joined at the announcement by members of the town board, airport officials and members of Breeze’s leadership team.

If we can get everyone using this airport locally, we’ll just get more and more flights out of this airport,” said Jim Smith, vice president and co-founder of Breeze Airways.

Carpenter added, “We got people coming now from Nassau and Queens to use MacArthur airport as their hometown airport.”
