Brothers behind Slappin Chick fire up new burger joint in Hicksville

|

The brothers behind the fast-growing chicken finger chain Slappin Chick are back โ€” and this time, theyโ€™re trading poultry for patties.

Meet Flippin Buns, a fresh smash burger spot now open at 350 S. Broadway in Hicksvilleโ€™s new Soni Centre strip mall.

The concept keeps things simple: choose one, two, or three smashed patties, layered with cheese, grilled onions, pickles, and a kick of jalapeรฑos โ€” if you want โ€˜em โ€” all topped with their signature Flippin Sauce. Fries come plain or loaded with the same fixings.

โ€œWe know a simple menu works well from Slappin Chick, thatโ€™s why we followed a similar formula,โ€ co-owner Aziz Ahmad told Greater Long Island. โ€œA lot of restaurants put so many options on their menu, the quality goes down. With just burgers, we can focus on great quality and take that to the next level.โ€

He added: โ€œPeople want something quick. Comfort food is easy and affordable.โ€

The Ahmad brothers grew up in the business, helping run their fatherโ€™s fast food spots in The Bronx โ€” so they know what it takes to deliver consistently great food.

Their first concept, Slappin Chick, quickly took off, and with more locations in the works, theyโ€™re doubling down on that success with Flippin Buns.

โ€œIโ€™m so excited about this place,โ€ Aziz said. โ€œIt took a long time to get here, but finally we made it. I was so excited I couldnโ€™t sleep last night.โ€
