Buffalo Wild Wings is introducing its ‘GO’ concept to Long Islanders

|

There’s a Buffalo Wild Wings GO location slated to open soon at the South Port Shopping Center in Shirley.

That’s according to a flyer in the window that reads, well, “opening soon.”

Greater Long Island has reached out to BWW for additional details, but in the meantime, here’s what we could find about the new Buffalo Wild Wings GO concept:

First, aside from the food, this is very much unlike a traditional BWW restaurant. It’s described elsewhere in the media as a spinoff of the national sports bar chain.

The GO version is mostly for delivery and takeout, though with some TVs and seating. But the familiar BWW wings, chicken sandwiches, wraps and burgers are all available.

It appears this will be Long Island’s first GO location, with the closest currently in Queens.

Here’s what John Bowie, president of Buffalo Wild Wings, told Urban Milwaukee about a GO location that opened there in December:

“Our takeout and delivery business grew significantly over the past two years as guests across America enjoyed our award-winning wings, sauces and other menu items at home. With great deals every day of the week on wings and bundles at GO, customers have one more way to enjoy our wings for any occasion, from game day lunch to family dinner.”

According to industry reports, the very first Buffalo Wild Wings location opened in Columbus, Oh., in 1982 before franchising about a decade later. Check back for updates on Shirley, including a planned opening date in what used to be a Mattress Firm.

Typically, Buffalo Wild Wings locations shoot to open in time for Super Bowl.
