Cafecito, a new mobile café, rolls into Mount Sinai Heritage Park

Coffee, check.

Espresso drinks, check.

Doughnuts and pastries, check.

And this being Long Island, BEC’s are a must. Consider that a check.

It’s all now available at a mobile coffee café called Cafecito that has just set up shop at Heritage Park in Mount Sinai.

Run by Rebeca Machado of Miller Place, the 24-year-old called the journey that led her to the popular community park “a dream come true.”

“I’ve always been a coffee lover, mixing different coffees and espressos,” she told Greater Long Island.

Machado at first hoped to open a storefront, but after talking with her father, the idea of a mobile café trailer began to germinate.

Then, after some 18 months of planning, building and making sure everything was set up, Cafecito parked in Mount Sinai’s Heritage Park this week for the first time.

“The location is great,” Machado said. “The coffee niche wasn’t here, so it’s a great opportunity.”

On the menu is a variety of different drinks and pastries, which are delivered daily from Glenn Wayne Bakery, including doughnuts, rolls, crumb cake, apple Danish’s and croissants.

Beverage options include caffeinated and decaf coffee and espresso drinks that will feature seasonal latte specials. Currently, Cafecito is offering cherry vanilla, blueberry or chocolate-covered strawberry lattes, with the respective fruits flavored into a sweet cold foam.

On site Monday through Saturday, Cafecito is also cooking up bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches for early risers.

“We’re excited,” Machado said. “We love the community here.”

Cafecito will be in the parking lot of Heritage Park on Mondays through Thursdays from 6 a.m. until 3 p.m., Saturdays from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. and on Food Truck Fridays starting at 2 p.m.
