Center Moriches St. Patrick’s Day Parade rescheduled for March 31

|

The 17th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Center Moriches has been rescheduled for March 31 due to rain, said grand marshal Arthur Gerhauser.

The parade, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce of the Moriches, will run from 2-4 p.m. along Main Street.

Gerhauser said the local eateries such as Buckley’s Irish Pub and Sea Cove Italian Restaurant will still open today, so perhaps people who planned to come to the parade can enjoy each other’s company.

He said six of the seven pipe bands who had committed to performing in the parade have said they will join the March 31 event.

A cocktail party in Gerhauser’s honor held Friday at the Rock Hill Country Club in Manorville raised more than $13,000 to help pay for the parade, which costs about $12,000. That included proceeds from the annual journal.

Speaking of the March 31 date, Gerhauser said, “With a little luck, maybe the weather will be better.”
