Christmas in July brings Santa, Mrs. Claus and The Grinch to Bethpage diner

|

Despite the summer heat, Santa and Mrs. Claus made a surprise visit to Bethpage Monday night — with The Grinch tagging along for the ride.

It was all part of the Embassy Diner’s annual Christmas in July celebration on Hempstead Turnpike.

Customers of all ages packed the diner, snapping photos with the festive trio from the North Pole. Some even took the chance to share their holiday wish lists a few months early.

“The whole plan is to find out if the kids are still being good in July,” said Embassy owner Gus Tsiorvas. “This way when Christmas comes, we know for sure if they are on the naughty or nice list.”

This marks the third straight year the diner has hosted the mid-summer celebration. Tsiorvas said it’s become a tradition because he loves seeing the joy it brings his customers.

Missed it? Don’t worry — Santa and crew will be back at the Embassy Diner Tuesday night from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
