This time, he gets to play at home. Well, sort of.
Though Matt Goncalves has never been to MetLife Stadium before this weekend, the Jets home stadium in East Rutherford is the closest venue to home these days for the Indianapolis Colts left tackle.
Goncalves, 23, of Manorville is set to make his second career start Sunday afternoon against New York. The game is at 1 p.m. on CBS.
The rookie lineman played well in his first start two weeks ago in a 21-13 loss to Minnesota on NBC Sunday Night Football. Last week, he didn’t start but saw significant time in the Colts 30-20 loss to Buffalo.
Against the Jets, Goncalves is replacing the injured Bernhard Raimann.
In his last two appearances, Goncalves has allowed six pressures and three sacks, in addition to being penalized once, Colts Wire reported.
Drafted 79th overall in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Goncalves starred at Eastport-South Manor before playing four seasons of collegiate ball at Pittsburgh.
