A Selden teen who collapsed at high school football practice on Monday remains in a coma and clinging to life at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital.
Robert Bush, 17, suffered cardiac arrest during a team workout at Newfield High School and went about 45 minutes without a pulse, his older brother Steve told News 12 Long Island.
“He’s currently still on a vent in an induced coma and they’re doing everything to keep him alive at this point,” Steve Bush said in the News 12 report.
Meanwhile, the community has come together help the Bush family in their time of need.
A GoFundMe page was established to support Robert Bush — who is one of 10 siblings — and his family. More than $4,500 in donations have poured in so far.

“Please consider donating but if you can’t, please send your healing thoughts and prayers for this family,” reads the GoFundMe page organized by LeeAnn Mazzillo.
“Send prayers, we need prayers right now,” Robert Bush’s brother, Christopher, pleaded on News 12. “We want him to survive.”
Robert Bush just completed his junior year at Newfield High School. He had no prior indications of a heart condition, News 12 reported.
