Cops: 13-year-old girl arrested for online threat against E. Northport Middle School


Suffolk County Police today arrested a 13-year-old East Northport Middle School student after she posted a threat on social media, police said.

Second Squad detectives arrested the girl and determined there was no credible threat, police said.

News 12 reported that Northport-East Northport School Superintendent Dave Moyer said in a message to parents that the threat was made on Snapchat. The school district was notified by the FBI, who spotted the threat.

The teen was charged with Threat of Mass Harm, a Class B misdemeanor. She will be arraigned in Suffolk County Family Court at a later date.
