Cosimo’s restaurant opening in old SC Tavern space in East Patchogue

|

Editor’s Note: The opening date for Cosimo’s has been changed, it is no longer Sept. 7.

Cosimo Fragomeni met his fiancé Adelin two years ago and from the start, he expressed to her his dream to open up his very own restaurant.

That dream is finally becoming a reality.

Cosimo’s Cocktails and Fine Italian Cuisine is taking over the permanently closed SC Tavern at 668 South Country Road.

Fragomeni, who grew up fascinated with his mother’s prowess in the kitchen, plans to open any day.

Prior to this venture, Fragomeni ran a catering business called Cosimo’s Italian Catering that operated out of a food trailer.

It was a lot of work and became overwhelming, so Fragomeni began his search for the ideal restaurant space.

It was almost fate when he found the space that his future ristorante would call home.

“We drove by this place, and I said to her stop right now, let’s go for a drink here,” he said. “We walk in and all of a sudden I was talking to the owners and told them I really want to open a restaurant, they said guess what, we are putting ours on the market next week.”

The new spot near Bellport will specialize in grilled pizza — without giving too much away, the key ingredient that he says makes these pizzas a hit is the sauce.

“All of my family is from Italy, and I’m not trying to brag but when you taste my sauce, it’s like, ‘Oh my god.’ It’s a wow-taste,” he said. “You can tell that it’s homemade.”

Cosimo’s will be a comfortable and cozy place with acoustic live music every week, Fragomeni said.

Happy Hour will be three to four nights a week and Football Sunday specials are in place in time for the 2021 season.

Southern Italian cuisine dominates the menu, which includes calamari, grilled eggplant, linguine with fresh clams, chicken marsala, and more. There’s also a gluten-free pizza option, for those wondering.

Just days from opening, he thanked his biggest supporter, Adelin, for her help and for being by his side every step of the way.

“When I watch the show ‘Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives,’ I get so attached to the people because those guys when they cook, they have pride,” Fragomeni said. “Whenever we would watch it I would say ‘Adelin it’s gonna happen, I’m gonna own a restaurant,’ and here we are.”

He’s looking to open Cocktails and Fine Italian Cuisine by the end of the month. See their full menu below.
