The Daily Grind Cafe, serving up coffee, frozen yogurt, soups, salads and more, opened Friday night on Main Street in Center Moriches.
The new spot, which is run by Swell Yogurt Cafe owner David Rose and his fiancé’s father, Bryan Stone, will be operating on a limited menu for the next three weeks.
Its offerings also include acai bowls and, soon, doughnuts. The coffee comes from Hamptons Coffee Co.
Rose said he wanted to open the cafe before today’s Fall Fair, which is hosted by the Chamber of Commerce of the Moriches. The event brings one of the busiest days of the year in terms of foot traffic along Main Street.
At around noon, the Daily Grind Cafe had a line going to the door.
“It’s just amazing,” said Stone. “You get to a point where you think this time isn’t going to come, but it’s finally here.”
Stone said he’d like the shop to be a respite for kids after school, where they can enjoy games and other activities to be offered down the line.
“There’s going to be more as each week goes on,” he said. “Right now it’s a soft opening, but a very busy soft opening.”
