As of this month, The Danfords Hotel, Marina & Spa located in the heart of Port Jefferson officially has new owners.
Hospitality management firm TPG Hotels, Resorts & Marinas announced they acquired The Danfords Hotel and are adding the waterfront boutique getaway to their extensive portfolio.
For over three decades, TPG Hotels has evolved into a national operator of several big-name hotel brands, such as Marriott, Hilton, and Wyndham, and dozens of independent, boutique hotels.
Danfords Hotel, Marina & Spa’s nautical charm, massive marina, and waterfront views are what caught the attention of the major hotel management firm.
The new ownership group is planning substantial renovations.
“Danfords Hotel, Marina & Spa in Port Jefferson, NY is a remarkable destination located in one of the highest barriers to entry markets in all of North America,” stated Robert Leven, the chief investment officer at Procaccianti Companies. “Danfords is a perfect fit as we accelerate the growth of our recently launched marina platform.
“We have several more acquisitions in the pipeline and intend to have a significant concentration of East Coast marina properties by the end of 2021.”
The plan for TPG Hotels, Resorts & Marinas is to go forward with resort-wide modernization at Danfords, such as implementing a lodging and slip reservation system and greenlighting a full renovation to the resort’s guest rooms.
The marina facilities on the resort grounds will also undergo a makeover.
Danfords currently holds 92 guest rooms and suites, offers docking at its 100-plus-slip marina, and is able to accommodate vessels up to 250-feet in length. The hotel also hosts weddings, special occasions, and other gatherings with its approximately 14,000 square-foot meeting and function space.
There’s also The Butterfly Spa at Danfords for guests looking to partake in a luxurious spa day.
As part of the transaction, TPG Hotels, Resorts & Marina acquired both the WAVE restaurant, the hotel’s onsite seafood eatery and lounge with dining overlooking the Long Island Sound, and The Club: A Public Steakhouse, which is also on site.
TPG Hotels, Resorts & Marina will also manage catering operations at the Waterview Restaurant located at the Port Jefferson Country Club.
