Dish soap and teamwork help Setauket FD rescue trapped puppy

A game of fetch turned into a dramatic rescue Wednesday morning when Setauket firefighters were called to free a puppy that had gotten stuck between concrete balusters.

According to a post from the department, Engine 10 firefighters used a mix of dish soap, gentle hands, and hydraulic spreaders — all under the command of Chief of Department Regulinski — to safely free the pup without causing major damage.

EMS members on scene checked the dog and confirmed it was unharmed.

The four-legged resident was then rewarded with plenty of treats and pets, officials said.
