Surf’s up, Port Jeff.
Ditch, a popular beach-themed surf bar and restaurant, which first opened in Bay Shore in 2023, celebrated its grand opening Friday, Aug. 15, at 140 Main Street.

The new spot takes over the former Spycoast location and brings the same laid-back East End vibe and California-inspired menu that made its Bay Shore flagship a hit. Guests will find tacos, sandwiches, soups, salads, and seafood staples, with a separate brunch menu set to launch in September.
Co-owners Tracy Smith and Alex Anderson said they’ve been eager to expand to a North Shore downtown.
“We really wanted to get in front of a main street. It fits really well with what we do,” Smith previously told Greater Long Island.
One big difference for Port Jefferson: extended late-night hours. On Fridays and Saturdays, the kitchen will remain open until 2 a.m. for both dine-in and to-go orders.
The restaurant’s name pays tribute to Ditch Plains, the iconic Montauk beach, and the Port Jeff outpost is designed to bring that East End feel to the heart of the village.
Ditch is now open for lunch and dinner, with brunch coming later this year.
