Dive Taco joins growing Fire Island lineup for Standard Provisions

A familiar waterfront spot in Kismet is getting a fresh identity just in time for summer.

Bar Aquatic, just steps from the popular Dive restaurant, is being reintroduced as Dive Taco — a new fast-casual concept from the team behind Dive and the growing Standard Provisions Restaurant Group.

Located at 177 Pine St., the concept has been years in the making.

“We’ve wanted to do a taco spot for a while, and Kismet just made sense,” said Gina Macchia, operations manager for Standard Provisions.

The new concept replaces Bar Aquatic’s sandwich-heavy menu with a quicker, beach-friendly experience centered around build-your-own tacos, bowls and fresh salads — designed for people looking for something easy between the beach and the bay.

Guests can expect house-made guacamole, salsa, chips and dips, along with boozy ice pops, agua frescas, Mexican Coke, sodas and specialty margaritas.

“The idea was to create something fun, approachable and easy for people spending the day out here,” Macchia said. “It’s quick-service casual, and something we felt was missing in the area.”

The market component at the waterfront location will remain, continuing to offer grab-and-go items for boaters, beachgoers and hotel guests.

“The market side will have grab-and-go taco kits and snacks,” Macchia said. “You’ll still have the outdoor seating, the market, the casual atmosphere — all of that stays.”

While the menu is changing, Macchia said the connection to the Dive brand remains central.

“Bar Aquatic had sandwiches, but it never really had its own identity,” she said. “This is still part of the Dive universe that people know — just a new, fun spin on it.”

Dive Taco joins a growing collection of Standard Provisions properties on Fire Island spearheaded by restaurateur, and president of the group, Frankie Bragaglia.

In addition to Dive Kismet, the group operates the adjacent Moonrise Motel and has expanded the Dive brand to Ocean Beach. Its mainland portfolio includes Courtside and The Brixton in Babylon, along with Standard Rec in Patchogue.

With Dive Taco now in the mix, Macchia said the goal is to add something new while keeping the familiar energy that has made Kismet a go-to summer destination. Guests staying at Moonrise Motel will also be able to order room service from Dive Taco, including drinks, to enjoy back on their deck.

“Fire Island needed it,” she said. “We’re excited to welcome everybody back.”
