86-year-old Dix Hills man dies in single-vehicle crash

An 84-year-old woman suffered minor injuries in the Saturday afternoon crash on Burrs Lane

An 86-year-old Dix Hills man died Saturday afternoon when the car he was driving veered off the road and struck a tree, police said.

The man was driving a 2026 Subaru north on Burrs Lane when he lost control of the car about 1:50 p.m., cops said.

He was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead. His identity is being withheld pending authorities’ notification of next of kin.

An 84-year-old woman who was a passenger in the vehicle was also taken to Good Samaritan, with minor injuries.

The Subaru was impounded for a safety check as Suffolk Police Second Squad detectives investigate the crash.

Nassau County: Driver killed in head-on crash on Northern State Parkway

New York State Police are investigating a fatal head-on crash on the Northern State Parkway in Lake Success early Sunday.

Troopers responded to the westbound side of the parkway near Exit 25 (Lakeville Road) for a two-car wreck involving a 2007 Ford Escape and a 2023 Ford Maverick, police said.

The driver of the Maverick died at the scene. The driver of the Escape was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
