The new Dollar General in Miller Place Square is officially open.
The doors quietly swung open just ahead of the July 4th holiday weekend, and business was already humming as shoppers filtered in to browse the fully stocked shelves heading into the long weekend.
The store fills the space left behind by Rite Aid, which closed in late 2023 as part of a wave of shutdowns tied to the national pharmacy chain’s bankruptcy proceedings. It had sat vacant until recent weeks, when the storefront was quietly transformed into a Dollar General — complete with a temporary vinyl sign and aisle-style layout typical of the discount chain.
With this new location now operating, Miller Place residents no longer have to travel to Rocky Point, roughly 2.5 miles away, to visit the nearest Dollar General. There’s also a Dollar Tree in the adjacent North Country Plaza.
