Construction is complete, the fryers are nearly ready to fire up — and Plainview’s newest chicken spot is getting close to opening day.
Dom’s Famous Chicken Fingers is expected to open within the next month in the Crossroads Shopping Center at the corner of Old Country Road and Manetto Hill Road.
“We’re almost there,” the Dom’s general manager, Joann Vaglica, told Greater Long Island. “We don’t have the exact date yet, just a few more things we need to finish up before the soft opening.”
Plainview will mark their first standalone location. The brand built a loyal following inside Dominick’s Deli in New Hyde Park, where Dom’s earned a reputation among fans as one the Island’s go-to spots for chicken.
Vaglica said customers have been stopping by daily since last week, hoping to get an early taste.
“Ever since the curtains came down, I think I’ve met all of Plainview already,” she said with a laugh. “So many people have come in. Everyone is so excited. I have to tell them just a few more weeks.”
When you go

The menu will feature four different sandwiches — three centered around the restaurant’s signature chicken fingers.
“There’s the classic, a homemade sweet heat sauce, and buffalo,” Vaglica said. “All of them will be on a roll with different toppings.”
The fourth sandwich, she said, is making the jump over from the deli menu.
“The Broadway sandwich — chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella and prosciutto.”
Customers can also expect mac and cheese bowls, french fries, garlic toast and coleslaw.
“It’s a small, but mighty menu,” Vaglica said.
How it happened

As Greater Long Island first reported in November, the Grosso family — owners of Dominick’s Deli — teamed up with longtime friend Vincent Napolitano, founder and CEO of FAVO Capital, to grow the chicken finger brand into a fast-casual concept.
Napolitano, who has roots in both hospitality and Wall Street, previously told GLI he sees the concept as the start of a larger expansion effort.
“We want to be the next big fast-casual chain,” Napolitano said.
Plainview is expected to be the first of several Long Island locations before the company begins franchising.
Vaglica said the restaurant is currently hiring for both front- and back-of-house positions.
