The sweet smell from one of Long Island’s most beloved bakeries can now be found in West Hempstead.
Dortoni Bakery officially opened its sixth location today inside the newly built Heritage Westminster luxury apartment complex on Hempstead Turnpike.
The bakery has been a local institution since its first shop opened in Levittown in 1976. Earlier this year, Dortoni was crowned Long Island’s best bakery in the Long Island Choice Awards.
Known for its classic Italian pastries and specialty cakes, Dortoni announced the West Hempstead debut on social media, writing:
“We can’t wait to welcome you to our newest home in this vibrant new community.”
In addition to Levittown and West Hempstead, Dortoni also operates in Commack, East Norwich, Port Jefferson and Huntington Station.
