Drive-in movie nights are coming to Pine Grove Inn in East Patchogue

|

Movies and dinner by the water are coming to East Patchogue.

Every Thursday through Sunday the Pine Grove Inn will premiere a movie in their parking lot. The restaurant will also be offering drive-in dinner options served on disposable trays.

The idea came from the new management team at the inn after they decided to open their lot for family entertainment while still maintaining social distance.

“Drive-ins are a very safe form of recreation right now,” said Delia Mckernan, event manager and restaurant manager at the inn. “It’s something that’s safe and fun for the whole family.”

The first showing is planned for June 11 at 8 30 p.m. and will be playing the classic film “Jaws.”

Since the stay-at-home orders began, the Pine Grove Inn hasn’t been able to allow their patrons to celebrate together with their planned events.

“We have such a beautiful facility on the water,” she said, adding that the lot can hold more than 100 cars. But as for the movie nights, the inn is going to keep it at a small dozen or two to keep viewers protected.

Patrons will not be allowed to leave their cars in the lot and will not be able to use facilities inside.

The cost is $35 for adults and $25 for kids aged 4 to 12. There’s an array of kiddie items such as burgers, quesadillas and fries, while parents can enjoy an array of German dishes the inn is known for. With their new management team, the Pine Grove Inn recently brought in a new kitchen staff.

German beer will be on tap, along with popcorn, candy and ice cream for a typical movie going experience.

This week the first round of films had been announced, starting with “Jaws” on Thursday, “Psycho” on Friday, “The Heat” on Saturday and “Matilida” on Sunday.

Mckernan added that Thursdays will be classic movie nights, Fridays will be devoted to horror flicks, Saturdays are for the grown-up flicks and Sundays will have family-friendly films.

Some other movies that are planned are “Grease,” “Silence of the Lambs,” “Casablanca” and “Field of Dreams” on Father’s Day, June 21.

“We just wanted to provide a safe and fun recreational activity for families, since there isn’t much to do during this time,” she said.

Tickets are already starting to sell out, so she recommends reserving your spot soon. To buy tickets you can contact Delia directly at 516-885-8827.
