East Moriches woman, 68, and dog rescued from marsh

Two Suffolk County police officers, along with members of the East Moriches Fire Department, rescued a 68-year-old woman and her dog from a marsh in East Moriches this afternoon, police said.

Seventh Precinct police officers responded to a 911 call reporting a woman and a dog stuck in a marsh at the end of Bay Street in East Moriches at 2:07 p.m. 

Officers Michael Pitts and Harrison Dow, along with East Moriches Fire Department Assistant Chief Robert Kanas threw a rope out to Paula Eagle, of East Moriches, instructed her to tie it around her waist and pulled her out of the marsh.

After the Eagle was rescued, members of the East Moriches Fire Department rescued her dog, Charlie. Eagle and Charlie were not injured.
