The Aurora Music Festival will not be happening this fall.
The three-day music fest, originally planned for Oct. 1 to 3 at Patchogue’s Shorefront Park, was axed this week, according to the Great South Bay Music Festival, the event’s organizer.
The cancellation was due to the rise in COVID-19 cases in the U.S. relating to the new Delta variant.
The Aurora Music Festival was supposed to be a smaller version of the Great South Bay Music Festival, which has been canceled or moved multiple times because of the pandemic.
“For the fourth time, I find myself moving or canceling a festival,” wrote Jim Faith, founder and promoter of the popular Long Island festival, on Facebook. “I refuse to be the reason why people got sick, or a part of the reason it’s still with us.”
As of now, the Great South Bay Music Festival has been postponed until July 7-10, 2022. Check back later at GreaterPatchogue for more information on this event.
