Event will celebrate the life of Bellport Brewing Company owner Brian Baker

The Bellport Brewing Company this Saturday is set to host an event to celebrate the life of its founder Brian Baker, who died tragically in a car wreck earlier this month.

“We hope you’ll join us this Saturday as we celebrate and remember Bellport Brewing Co. founder Brian Baker,” the establishment said in its announcement. “Brian was taken from us three weeks ago but his memory lives on through his family, his brewery, and the countless lives he touched with his warmth and generosity.”

Members of Baker’s family will be at the brewery, which is open on Saturday from noon until 10 p.m.

The family will be “welcoming anyone who was lucky enough to know Brian, inviting you to share stories and memories of his life,” the pub said in its announcement.

Baker, 43, of Moriches, died May 9 when he lost control of his 2022 Hyundai while driving on Mastic Road. The car crossed through the southbound traffic lanes and hit a tree and a utility pole, authorities said. It is believed that he suffered a medical event while behind the wheel of the car.

Baker was well-known in the Long Island brewing community. His journey with beer began in 2013, and he quickly became involved with the Long Island Beer and Malt Enthusiasts, also known as LIBME, who are home brewers. He had operated his own brewing company for the past seven years.
