A Toast to Embracing Autism is a tribute to Joe Winters, a passionate Long Islander committed to philanthropy and advocating for top-notch services for individuals with autism since his son’s diagnosis in 1996. He firmly believed in the power of employment to provide fulfillment and purpose. Today, with autism affecting 1 in 36 children in the US and an alarming 90% unemployment rate among adults with autism, the need for robust adult-focused services and opportunities is crucial.

The proceeds from this event will benefit the Winters Center for Autism, where our dedicated team strives to enhance the lives of over 100 adults with autism. We focus on job creation, training, and placement to tackle the concerning unemployment rate. Identifying the unique skills and talents of our participants, we match them with businesses and organizations willing to create roles for capable and trained employees, fostering a more inclusive Long Island community.
