Special Guest JD Solomon will present his historical fiction novel “Home News: A Novel of 1928”. This Bay Shore story tells the story of a obituary reporter’s investigation into a trouble-prone missing veteran and a notorious bootlegging operation. Home News is a love letter to prohibition-era Bay Shore highlighting local venues, businesses, and families.

Author JD Solomon is a retired editor and marketing consultant who lives in New Jersey with his wife, Maureen Tinen, and dog, Charlie. He grew up in Bay Shore and graduated from Bay Shore High School in 1974. Solomon began his career in journalism as a cub reporter at a small-town newspaper near Fitchburg, Massachusetts, mainly writing obituaries and Home News items. Solomon worked with the Bay Shore Historical Society to conduct research for his book at our reference library. JD Solomon’s presentation will take us back to the 1920s Bay Shore and he will explore his inspiration for the novel. Solomon will conduct a Q&A with audience members at the end of the presentation.
