Extended hours at Patchogue Beach Club during heat wave

|

The village pool hours in Patchogue will be extended with the current heat wave, during which temperatures are expected to reach 94 on Saturday and Sunday.

An excessive heat warning is also in effect, with heat index values up to around 110 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

So the Patchogue Beach Club at 16 Maiden Lane (map below), where there’s a pool and beach, will be extending its hours both days.

On Saturday, the club opens at 11 a.m. and closes at 7:45 p.m., with hours beginning at 11 a.m. on Sunday and running until 5:45 p.m.

The club is open to both residents and non-residents alike, though its a higher entrance fee for non-residents. Call 631-475-4066 with any questions.

The heat warning is in effect until 8 p.m. Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service, an Excessive Heat Warning is issued when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 105 degrees or greater.

“Seniors and those with chronic health problems or mental health conditions are at increased risk,” the NWS states. “Homes without air conditioning can be much hotter than outdoors.

“Use air conditioning to stay cool at home or go to a place that has air conditioning. Check on vulnerable friends, family members and neighbors.”
