Farmingdale’s Caracara Mexican Grill expanding to East Northport

|

It’s been 10 years since two Greek friends opened Caracara Mexican Grill in Farmingdale.

Now owners Peter Rousakis and Tony Kathreptis are introducing their authentic Mexican concept to the Huntington area.

Their second Caracara Mexican Grill location will debuting in East Northport sometime next spring, inside the East Northport Plaza Center on Larkfield Road, next to Hummel Bakery and Lidl Supermarket.

“Hopefully it will do well, the real estate and rent were key factors, but we also wanted to do North Shore,” Rousakis said. “We’re an authentic Mexican restaurant, we’re not like a Tex-Mex; we are family-oriented, have great drinks, great food, and a great vibe.”

Both Rousakis and Kathreptis are alumni of the popular Besito Mexican Restaurants on Long Island and New England, and formerly ran Rosa Mexicano in New York City.

Caracara East Northport is a huge, 4,000-square-foot space that combines a previous pizzeria and card store. Folks who visit the new Mexican spot can expect “great food, a great atmosphere and a fun time,” Rousakis said.

He added taht he and Kathreptis are attempting to make each Caracara location unique in its own way, while keeping the overall experience consistent.

The décor at the East Northport location will differ slightly from Farmingdale’s. And East Northport will offer a private party room, something the Farmingdale restaurant does not offer, Rousakis said.

The owners of the Mexican grill plan on further expanding the Caracara footprint with a third location in the near future.

“It’s been 10 years and it’s been a long time waiting,” Rousakis said.
