A Farmingville man arrested in 2020 for stalking pop star Billie Eilish was struck and killed by a Long Island Rail Road train in Westbury early Wednesday, according to multiple reports.
Prenell Rousseau, 30, was on or near the tracks east of the Westbury LIRR station at 5:38 a.m. when he was hit by a train out of Huntington headed to Atlantic Terminal, an MTA spokesperson told Newsday.
Law enforcement sources told the New York Post, which first reported the story, that Rousseau appeared to have been jogging at the time and his death is being treated as accidental. About 100 passengers on the train were transferred to another train to finish their trips.
Rousseau drew national attention in May 2020 when he repeatedly showed up at the doorstep of Eilish’s Los Angeles home — at least seven times across two days, according to court documents reviewed by The Mirror US.
In one visit, he reportedly rang the doorbell and asked Eilish’s father, Patrick O’Connell, through a surveillance camera, whether the singer lived there. O’Connell told him he had the wrong house.
Nonetheless, Rousseau returned that evening, prompting the family to phone in private security.
Court documents describe Eilish — who was 18 at the time — saying that while the family waited for security, Rousseau “remained on our porch, sat down and began to read a book while also continuing to engage in a periodic monologue.” Despite the singer’s dad repeatedly asking him to leave, he refused.
Rousseau was ultimately arrested on trespassing charges. Court records from that period show a judge granted Eilish, who is now 24, a permanent restraining order, according to TMZ reports.
Posts on Rousseau’s Instagram account included what appeared to be an illustrated image of the singer along with a message reading, “Anyway – I love u b … that is all.”
