Here’s what you can get in Suffolk County for under $500K

|

It’s a challenge that tens of thousands of Long Islanders grapple with every day in their pursuit of homeownership: finding something comfortable, attractive, a worthy investment, and, most importantly, affordable in a market where prices continue to climb.

The median sales price for a single-family home in Suffolk County hit $680,000, One Key MLS reported in its August housing market update. It can be an intimidating statistic for prospective home buyers.

However, amid the high prices, there are still opportunities for those willing to look. These properties sometimes require compromise, be it in size, location or condition, but they just may offer a foothold in the market for first-time buyers or those on a tighter budget.

To illustrate that affordable options are still available, Greater Long Island has identified five Suffolk homes currently listed for under $500,000 — a price point that falls significantly below the county’s median. These properties, spread across Suffolk, demonstrate that it’s possible to find a beautiful home that doesn’t break the bank.

Keep in mind that in real estate, “bargain” and “affordable” are relative terms. These homes may be priced lower than the county average, but they still require a huge financial investment.
