Food Done It? relaunches, reimagines edible mystery tours in Patchogue

|

The island’s seminal edible mystery tour company Food Done It? had been picking up some serious steam. Then COVID-19 struck.

“The speed dropped from 100 to 0 overnight,” said owner Elizabeth Hindley, who started the company with her husband, Kevin, in February 2017. “We never expected that our amazing restaurant partners would be shut down and so many new regulations would be in effect. Regulations that were so foreign to anything we’ve ever lived through here in the U.S.”

By 2018, tours were running in Patchogue, Babylon, Huntington and Rockville Centre. All the tours were forced to shut down.

But now Food Done It? is back.

The Hindleys are taking it slow, however. Earlier this month, they launched a new tour concept called Eats on the Streets: The Milk-Shakedown, operating only for the streets of Patchogue until further notice. Some spots are already offering indoor dining options as well.

“It’s a brand-new, seven course taste-of-main-street scavenger hunt where guests will solve puzzles and hunt down hidden ‘virtual treasures’ as they go,” they explained in a press announcement “Fans who’ve done their other tours will enjoy plenty of never-featured-before Patchogue locations, including one of Burgerology’s famous over-the-top milkshakes.”

(They don’t want to give any more surprises away.)

“Thankfully, when the first groups who took the tour gave us 5 star reviews we knew this could work!” Elizabeth told GreaterPatchogue.

MORE ABOUT THE NEW TOUR

from Food Done It?

This tour has seven quick courses, not five, so you’ll get even more flavors to savor.

The tour runs later, starting at 6 p.m.

It moves faster. The tour takes approximately three hours.

It has a lower price at $53+tax/fees per person.

Tours for two are now available. All tours are private (min. 2, max 10).

This tour will not include moustache-glasses that hang under your nose for now, but disposable F.D.I. Logo “badge”-stickers.

For safety the tour is all on the street until the last stop, where you can be seated outside. The games and puzzles are disposable — only you and your group will handle your props. All featured tour stops will be following current phased-reopening requirements.

Due to current restrictions and the larger number of tour stops, substitutions for allergies/dietary restrictions cannot be accommodated for this tour.
