Former Book Revue manager finds new home for bookstore in Huntington

|

After almost a year without a physical bookstore in Huntington, a new one is on the horizon.

When the iconic bookstore, The Book Revue, closed last year after 44 years in Huntington, ex-manager Mallory Braun made it her mission to keep the spirit of the independently-owned shop alive.

With the help of Book Revue owner Richard Klein, Braun launched The Next Chapter — a bookstore continuing The Book Revue’s legacy by selling new, used, remaindered and rare books, as well as records, art and handmade goods.

What began as a successful Kickstarter fundraising campaign, an online shop, and many pop-up events across Long Island has finally evolved into a permanent location at 204 New York Ave. in Huntington, right next to Stella Blue Bistro.

“[It] is a five-minute walk from Book Revue,” Braun said in her official announcement. “I’m not kidding, I timed it.”

Braun said the journey to opening The Next Chapter in its physical location will be a long one.

There are materials that need to be acquired and permit approvals that need to be secure, and there will be extensive construction done on the space, Braun said.

However, in the meantime, The Next Chapter team will continue hosting pop-ups and utilizing their online store.
