Bethpage’s iconic Embassy Diner landed in the national spotlight Tuesday morning when Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” broadcast live from the diner as part of a segment honoring law enforcement officers and first responders.
The program featured Embassy Diner owner Gus Tsiorvas, who was interviewed on-air by “Fox & Friends” co-host Lawrence Jones III about his deep ties to the law enforcement community.
“My brothers and sisters are all police officers,” said Tsiorvas, whose eatery was packed with police, first responders, other customers and public officials for the Fox News visit. “I grew up around police … I’m the only one in the food business.
“We love law enforcement. We love first responders. That’s what it’s all about,” he continued. “We should serve them, we should honor them and cherish them every day.”

The segment also featured ‘Project Thank a Cop’ founders Maegan and Andy Fox. The group, established during a time of national tension toward police, aims to remind officers that they are valued and appreciated.
“They have a very difficult job,” Andy Fox said. “And we want to let them know that we have their backs.”
Tsiorvas explained to Jones that gestures as simple as a hot meal or a “Thank you” go a long way toward showing appreciation to law enforcement members and first responders.
“You never used to see people walking up to cops and thanking them,” he said. “Now you see it more and more often. It’s really, really nice to see.”
