Funeral services for Marjory ‘Miss Margie’ Marchand, beloved dance school owner

|

Marjory “Miss Margie” Marchand, a Coram mother, grandmother and owner of Marchand’s School of Dance in Miller Place, passed away Sept. 20. She was 69.

Warmly remembered for her loving laugh and warm smile, friends and family remember the impact the longtime dance instructor and business owner had on their life.

“Miss Margie we love you so much!” Michelle Krebo posted on a tribute wall on Branch Funeral Home’s website. “You are the reason I love dance and then I had the privilege of bringing my daughter to dance for you as well.”

Marchand began teaching kids to dance in 1976 out of her home. She would later open her own studio, now located at 2500, 451 Route 25A in Miller Place, which offers classes in hip hop, tap, lyrical, jazz, ballet and adult tap.

The local community has set up a GoFundMe to fundraise for a dance scholarship in her name at Miller Place School District.

“This scholarship will continue her mission of kindness, appreciation of dance, and the devotion she had for the community she loved so much,” the fundraiser reads.

Marchand is survived by her son Nick and daughter-in-law Heidi; daughter Sommer and son-in-law Kevin; and granddaughters Marley, Lola, Charlotte, Daisy and Shelby. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob.
