Golden Gloves Champ leading Copiague Middle School’s new boxing club

A new cardio kickboxing class is all the rage at Copiague Middle School.

Students in the club lace up their boxing gloves and meet every other week under the direction of Copiague Middle School physical education teacher Kristin Havdoglous, who was a 2009 Daily News Golden Gloves Boxing champion in the 141-pound weight class.

The focus of the club is on getting and staying fit while teaching the basics of boxing. Membership in the club is open to all middle school students. Suffolk County PAL is sponsoring the program and
purchased all the equipment for the club.
