Grab your tickets for a Polar Express experience in Port Jeff Station

|

Here’s your chance to enjoy a Polar Express experience in an antique train car, without having to trek to Pennsylvania or Connecticut.

Throughout the month of December, the Port Jefferson/Terryville Chamber of Commerce is hosting its Polar Express Experience for children of all ages.

Encouraged to dress in their favorite PJ’s, kids can climb into the Chamber Train Car – located on the corner of 112 and 347 in Port Jefferson Station — with their parents.

When their tickets are punched, they then get cozy inside while the movie plays. The $11 ticket also includes a candy cane, cookies and hot cocoa.

“During the show, they get a whole experience just like the movie,” said Doreen Guma, a chamber board member.

On Dec. 8, two viewings of the film were played and it was a full train car.

“The kids had an awesome time,” she said. “Event the little ones were so excited.”

Spots are filling, since space is limited. Anyone who wants in should get their tickets soon. To reserve, register here.

The event is completely volunteer-based and all earnings support the chamber’s train car and flag fund.

Here are the remaining showtimes:

Saturday, Dec. 14: 3 p.m., 7 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 15: 5 p.m.

Friday, Dec. 20: 6 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 21: 11 a.m., 3 p.m., 7 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 22: 5 p.m.

About the train car, from the chamber site:

One of the last remaining early nineteen hundreds electric baggage coach car was put in service around 1914, traveling from Jamaica Station to Manhattan. The railroad car, out of service, was transported to its current location in the mid-70s on the crossroads of Nesconset Highway and Route 112, in the the downtown business district of Port Jefferson Station.
