Great Jobs: Register by Oct. 5 to become a New York State Park Police officer

|

Anyone looking to become a New York State Park Police officer has until Oct. 5 to register for the Nov. 19-20 examinations.

The starting salary is $55,179, or $57,396 for those assigned to Suffolk or Nassau counties.

Applicants must be at least 20 at the time of appointment and no more than 35 at the time of the exam, though military service may extend eligibility, officials said.

“State Park Police officers are vital to ensuring our millions of visitors have a safe and enjoyable time visiting New York State Parks,” said Chief David Herrick, the director of law enforcement for state parks. “I urge anyone interested in a rewarding law enforcement career helping to keep people safe and protecting our state’s natural and historic treasures to take the time to apply to become a State Park Police officer.”
