Long Island’s own Charlie McAvoy and his red-hot Boston Bruins rallied for a 2-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Winter Classic on Monday at Fenway Park.
The NHL-leading Bruins scored two third period goals to win in the majors’ oldest active ballpark.
Long Beach’s McAvoy, a defenseman, recorded two block shots and a takeaway along with a 0 plus/minus in 23 minutes on the ice.

Fun before the game: Leading up to the 14th annual Winter Classic, the Bruins paid homage to the their host by donning vintage Red Sox jerseys.
