SATURDAY
Post Office Café’s annual 5K to fight MPS
The Lessing’s Hospitality Group, which owns and operates The Post Office in Babylon, will be hosting its 27th Annual Race for MPS on Saturday, Oct. 20.
All proceeds go to the nonprofit MPS Society. Last year, the race raised a whopping $37,000. To sign up for the race, participants can register online, or by mail by printing the application and mailing to Post Office Café, 130 West Main Street, Babylon, NY 11702. Babylon’s Fall Harvest Festival & Street Fair
Babylon’s annual Fall Harvest Festival and Street Fair happens Saturday, Oct. 20. This year marks the 26th year the Babylon Village Chamber of Commerce has hosted the event.
While the entire weekend — Friday through Sunday — will feature a sidewalk sale from local Babylon businesses, streets will be closed only Saturday for the festival. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Deer Park Avenue will be shut to vehicle traffic from Main Street to Rail Road Avenue for the event. Click here to read more.
Bay Shore’s Haunted Halloween
A huge day in downtown Bay Shore. The kids’ costume parade starts at 4 p.m. at Shore Lane and Main Street and runs west. That’s followed by a red carpet costume contest outside of the Band Shell Park on Main Street, where there will be arts and crafts, games, and face painting at Band Shell Park until 6:3o p.m.
The annual pumpkin-decorating contest goes from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. across from the Community Garden, where the super-popular Haunted Garden spooky walk will be happening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Lastly, the Bay Shore Moms and Dads Facebook group is once again organizing a Trunk or Treat, where people from the community decorate their cars and give away candy to kids. The Taste at Port Jefferson
Billed as the fall’s premier food and wine festival on Long Island, the doors open at 6 p.m. for those with VIP tickets and 7 p.m. for general admissions.
“Tasters” enjoy ever-flowing food samples from fine Long Island restaurants, along with wines, beers, and a wide variety of delicious desserts. There’s also Live Music and Raffles, all at the Port Jefferson Village Center overlooking the harbor at 101-A East Broadway. Click here for tickets. VIP: $99 General Admission: $70. Ends at 10 p.m.
Halloween Costume Dog Parade
The dog parade happens at the Corey Beach Picnic Area in Blue Point starting at 9:30 a.m., though the dogs and their owners are asked to show up at 9 a.m. It’s $10 per dog, with proceeds benefitting Last Chance Animal Rescue in Southampton. Participants should RSVP by emailing [email protected].
The 8th Annual Chili Cook-Off and Fall Festival
From the GreaterPatchogue calendar: The annual Chili Cook-Off at 939 Johnson Avenue in Ronkonkoma is a day where Long Islanders can enjoy the most diverse, delicious, and creative meat and vegan chili dishes from local food establishments, area businesses, and local talent. Angels of Long Island Fall Festival
Fall festival fun for people of all ages. There will be vendors, food, games, pumpkin-picking, music, trick-or-treating, face painting, bouncy houses, obstacle courses and more. The admission is $10 per person to benefit the Angels of Long Island Outreach Department to help people in crisis. Sunday, Oct. 21, from 1-5 p.m. at 350-23 East Main Street in Patchogue. Sayville Fall Fest
Just outside the GreaterPatchogue coverage areas, the Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its annual Fall Festival on Main Street. The festival gets starting early, at 10 a.m., and runs to 6 p.m. Click here for the Facebook Event for more.
