Suffolk Police are investigating an midnight-hour shooting on Leigh Street; the gunman fled the scene

A man shot a 40-year-old woman and fled during a domestic incident in Greenlawn early Thursday, leaving the victim seriously injured, Suffolk Police said.

The shooting happened at 12:52 a.m. on Leigh Street, cops said. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where she is being treated for serious injuries, authorities said. Authorities did not release her name.

Suffolk Police Second Squad detectives are asking anyone with information on the incident to call the Second Squad at 631.854.8252 or Crime Stoppers at 800.220.TIPS. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the P3 Tips app or at P3Tips.com.

A reward of up to $5,000 is available for tips leading to an arrest.
