Healthy lifestyle food chain Organic Krush launches new location in Stony Brook

|

Those looking to enjoy a 100-percent organic meal in Stony Brook now have their answer.

Founded by longtime friends Michelle Walrath and Fran Paniccia, Organic Krush is a healthy alternative food spot with 10 locations extending from Long Island to Connecticut and Virginia.

Their newest location is in Stony Brook — a 2,000-square-foot space within the Stony Brook Square shopping center at 1111 Route 25A. It’s just a mile from Stony Brook University and across the street from the Long Island Rail Road’s Stony Brook train station.

“We are so excited to finally be open, it’s been such a warm welcome by the community,” said Walrath, noting that the eatery opened on Nov. 29. “It’s been a great start.”

Organic Krush offers non-GMO, pesticide-free meal options, such as bowls, salads, wraps and soups, along with breakfast and bakery items, and their own line of cold-pressed juices.

Everything is meticulously sourced, prepared fresh, or custom-made in their 6,000-square-foot certified production kitchen in Plainview.

The juices, salad dressings and bakery items are made in the production kitchen. Everything else is prepared in-store.

What makes the Stony Brook location unique from Organic Krush’s other locations is its open-kitchen concept, Walrath said.

The guests can visually interact with the chefs throughout the cooking and preparation process.

The open space allows more room for interaction between visitors and also features plush pillows and kid toys.

“We really wanted the guests to make the connection between what they were ordering, often times a very customized experience, and then seeing that go down in action in our cutting edge, beautiful, clean kitchens with all these trained cooks and the teamwork that goes on to execute the meal,” Walrath said.

Organic Krush in Stony Brook is open seven days a week — Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

“The main reaction we’re getting is what a relief it is to have an organic and healthy eatery,” Walrath said.
