Here are the details for the upcoming Stony Brook Holiday Festival

|

The Stony Brook Village Center’s 40th annual Holiday Festival happens this Sunday in the downtown.

The event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., is headlined by its parade, which features several 14-foot puppets that resemble historical figures — such as local popular philanthropists Ward and Dorothy Melville.

The parade begins at 2:15 p.m. at the Stony Brook Fire Department at 147 Main Street and will head south from there.

Additionally, during the day, there will be live music, model train exhibit, petting zoo, and carolers at the village center.

Santa Claus will also be stopping by to take a picture with the kiddies at the Stony Brook Post Office. He will be there from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The Ward Melville Heritage Organizers, the event’s organizer, will also be displaying 60 decorated trees outside of businesses at the center.

At 5:30 p.m., there will be a tree lighting ceremony at the village green.
