Elwood man, 55, reported missing; police seek public’s help

Suffolk Police detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in locating an Elwood man who was reported missing on Friday.

Joseph Competiello, 55, (pictured above) was last seen at his Remsen Street home about 8:30 a.m., police said. A family member reported him missing later on Friday, at 2:30 p.m.

Competiello is described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing about 160 pounds. He has a shaved head and brown eyes.

Cops said he is believed to have been wearing a black North Face jacket, jeans and Skechers sneakers when he was last seen.

Detectives are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to call 911 or the Second Squad at 631.854.8252.
