|

Dozens of brightly decorated vessels are expected to glide along the Connetquot River this Saturday night to the delight of hundreds of hot chocolate-sipping onlookers at the annual Christmas Boat Parade.

In year’s past, Santa, the Grinch and other popular holiday characters have made special appearances in the annual event. Eateries along the parade route offer panoramic views, along with great food and drink specials.

Here’s what you need to know about this fun event:

• The parade starts at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at View in Oakdale and proceeds to the Snapper Inn, before circling back to View.

• Prime locations to take in all the bright sights include View and the Snapper Inn, as well as the Great River Town Ramp, the Oakdale Yacht, Nicolls Point Marina, Timber Point Marina and Vanderbilt’s Wharf.

• The fireworks show by Grucci begins around 7 p.m.

• Prizes for the Best Boat include dinner for two at Snapper Inn and a $100 Gift Card for gas at Oakdale Yacht.

• View is offering $25 parking for cars with a maximum of six people. The restaurant will serve free hot chocolate and host a visit from Santa.
