Holiday horror as woman attacked, robbed in Marshalls parking lot

|

A woman was attacked and robbed outside a Marshalls store on Route 58 in Riverhead on Monday night, the eve of Christmas Eve.

Riverhead police are still searching for the suspect, and are asking for the public’s help.

According to cops, the woman was ambushed in the parking lot at 1762 Old Country Road, where Home Sense, HomeGoods and Marshalls stretch in a row across from Costco.

But the attack occurred closer to Marshalls, next to PetSmart, at the height of the shopping season.

Police responded to a 911 call at 9:49 p.m.

Upon arrival, the victim said she was “forcibly pulled to the ground between two vehicles,” where the suspect removed $500 from her pants pocked — and was attempting to grab her wallet.

But that was when a witness intervened and the suspect fled.

Riverhead patrolmen and a K9 unit searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. Detectives also arrived on scene to assist.

The suspect is described as being a light-skinned, younger male of average build. He was wearing dark-colored hooded outerwear at the time, police said.

Anyone with information that might help lead to his arrest is asked to call 631-727-4500 immediately.

All calls will be kept confidential.
