Hollywood-bound: Patchogue’s Christian Guardino secures a golden ticket on ‘American Idol’

|

Patchogue native Christian Guardino is heading to Hollywood!

He first earned the golden buzzer on “America’s Got Talent” in 2017, now the Long Island singer secured himself a golden ticket after nailing his “American Idol” audition on Sunday night.

His impressive rendition of “A Song for You” by Donny Hathaway received a standing ovation from the celebrity judges and a big hug from Lionel Richie.

“We found him,” Richie exclaimed at the end of Guardino’s audition.

While watching it all unfold live on television, Guardino was surrounded by family and friends at PeraBell Food Bar and no one could contain their excitement for the local performer.

Guardino was just 16 when he first shared his gift of singing with the world and reached the semifinals of Season 12 of “America’s Got Talent.”

Now five years later, he said he has completely grown as a performer since that debut television appearance.

“I think I as an artist and as an individual, I have stepped outside my comfort zone more than I ever have in my entire life,” the Patchogue singer said in a previous report. “It was a sense of accomplishment.”
