A new HomeGoods store is opening in Shirley this week, bringing thousands of square feet of furniture, home dรฉcor and household merchandise to the South Port Shopping Center, according to a press announcement.
The national retailer will celebrate its grand opening Thursday, Oct. 22, at 999 Montauk Highway, with extended opening-day hours from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The approximately 23,500-square-foot store will offer furniture, rugs, lighting, kitchen and dining products, bedding, bath accessories, pet supplies, outdoor furnishings and more.
HomeGoods, known for its rotating inventory of discounted home furnishings, says its merchandise is generally priced 20% to 60% below the regular prices of comparable products at full-price retailers.
โOur amazing values, brand names, and vast assortment make HomeGoods an exciting destination for shoppers,โ said John Ricciuti, president of HomeGoods, in a statement announcing the opening.
The new Shirley location is expected to employ approximately 65 full- and part-time workers.
Regular store hours will be 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily.
A $10,000 donation to a local nonprofit
As part of the grand opening, HomeGoods will donate $10,000 to Brighter Tomorrows Inc., a Long Island nonprofit that supports people affected by domestic violence.
The donation is part of the retailer’s Find Home Anywhere initiative, which supports organizations helping people find safety, stability and a sense of home.
HomeGoods said the Shirley store will also participate in national fundraising campaigns benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
