Huntington stylist’s tragic death inspires surge of community compassion

|

The untimely death of a popular Huntington hair stylist has sparked a wave of compassion from the community she served.

Friends, family and clients of 26-year-old Anna Crego have come together to provide comfort and assistance to her grieving family, raising nearly $7,000 on a GoFundMe page established to help her four brothers and sisters afford funeral services and cremation. The page notes that the siblings recently also lost their parents.

Crego was killed in a car wreck on Friday just after 9 a.m. on the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway in Plainview. She lived in Brentwood and worked at The Mill Hair Studio in Huntington.

“She was such a genuine and sweet soul who always knew how to light up a room,” wrote Angelina Alcarese, who organized the GoFundMe effort that has received more than 120 donations in less than 24 hours. “Never failing to make everyone laugh she was the first person to stay positive in every negative situation she was in.”

“She was so dedicated to her career as a Hair stylist and loved going into work everyday and transforming her clients hair,” reads the GoFundMe post. “She … was so passionate about her work.”

In a heartfelt Instagram post earlier today, The Mill Hair Studio informed its community of her death.

“Nothing about this situation is easy and we all loved her so much,” reads the post. “We appreciate all the texts, DMs, and love our friends and clients have been sending our way and we thank you for your patience as we process what has happened.”

“Let’s use this as a reminder that life is short and to always love the people in your life who mean the most,” The Mill Hair Studio stated in its post.

Funeral services for Crego are on Thursday, Nov. 16, from 2-4:30 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at McCourt & Trudden Funeral Home Inc., located at 385 Main St. in Farmingdale.
