It’s a whole month of pink in Port Jefferson with Mather Hospital

|

Throughout October, residents and visitors to the Port Jefferson and Port Jeff Station might notice pink cocktails, pink cupcakes, pink hair extensions and much more pink.

Not to mention all the pink lights and window decorations.

That’s because it’s John T. Mather Memorial Hospital’s month-long breast cancer awareness campaign, Paint Port Pink, which takes place across the Greater Port Jeff area.

The end goal each year is the same: Raise awareness about breast cancer, encourage annual mammograms, and bring the community together to fight the disease, which is the second leading cause of cancer deaths for women in the U.S. after lung cancer, according to the American Cancer Society.
