It’s one thing to get caught with your hand in the tip jar. But it’s another story to be recorded walking off with the whole jar.
But that’s just what happened at Beyond Bagels in Jericho on Sunday, when a man reportedly grabbed the store’s tip jar and walked out, police said.
Nassau County Police Second Squad detectives said a 67-year-old employee called police about 1:30 p.m. to report the jar missing. It contained roughly $100 in cash.
A store surveillance camera recorded a man enter the store, touch the jar and look around the shop before scooping up the tip jar and walking out the front door.
The suspect has a medium build and is about 6 feet tall, with black hair and a black beard/goatee. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, black sweatpants, gray shoes and yellow socks.
Detectives are urging anyone with information to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1.800.244.TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
